We are proud to announce the start of a very exciting international project, YOUth On Air. Four artists from Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire are embarking on a European training programme with experts and peers from Belgium, North Macedonia and Serbia to investigate how radio and podcasting can be used as tools to support young people’s intercultural understanding and dialogue.
The training programme, running currently online is just the start of the project which will see each artist take the skills they have learnt into a real-life project with groups of young people in their local area. They will be working with them in COVID-secure environments (some live, some online) to create audio content that reflects themes and issues that they feel are important and that they would want to communicate and share with other young people across Europe.
We are looking forward to sharing the final pieces as part of next year’s YDF21.
Our artists on this project are:
- Rabhia Saeeda
- Georgia Lomax Thorpe
- Lorien Edwards
- Huma Arshad
We will be sharing more information about them and their projects in the next few weeks.
